But with the recent reveal of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/articles\/gta-6-preorders-begin-june-25-cover-art-revealed\/\" id=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/articles\/gta-6-preorders-begin-june-25-cover-art-revealed\/\">Grand Theft Auto VI cover art<\/a>, we realized something pretty remarkable: Only one game in the series actually features a grand theft auto on the cover. <\/p>\n<figure data-wp-interactive=\"core\/image\" class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-ref-id=\"1796805\" data-wp-on--click=\"actions.core.image.showLightbox\" style=\"cursor: zoom-in\" height=\"1024\" width=\"830\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/GTA-2-1_1629fd.jpg?w=830\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1796805\" \/> <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As you can see, Grand Theft Auto 2 appears to show a carjacking in progress, with someone rushing into a taxi while people scatter nearby. It&#8217;s an excellent cover just from a vibes perspective, but it also gives a bird&#8217;s-eye view of the action, just like the original GTA and GTA 2 do in-game. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In contrast, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/articles\/a-history-of-grand-theft-auto-box-art-from-gta-1-to-gta-6\/\" id=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/articles\/a-history-of-grand-theft-auto-box-art-from-gta-1-to-gta-6\/\">GTA games released in the decades since<\/a> this have been collages of characters you can meet (or play as) and activities you can do. GTA VI&#8217;s cover, for instance, includes a shot of a speedboat, a motorcycle, a helicopter, a supercar, and a crocodile, along with several characters. But it doesn&#8217;t feature a grand theft auto!
