Former Dragon Age lead writer\u00a0David Gaider believes that the series may be dead, and the game&#8217;s poor commercial performance&#8211;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/articles\/new-report-sheds-light-on-why-dragon-age-the-veilguard-failed\/1100-6532366\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to EA&#8217;s expectations<\/a>&#8211;was likely the final nail in its coffin.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Throughout the entire time I was there, we were always one breath away from the project being shelved,&#8221; Gaider said to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/games\/dragon-age\/dragon-ages-former-lead-writer-thinks-the-series-is-probably-dead-but-hed-be-happy-to-take-it-off-eas-hands-and-go-somewhere-dark-and-dangerous-with-it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PC Gamer<\/a>. &#8220;The thing that happened is that we kept releasing games, and it would sell much better than they thought it should, and it kept surprising them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gaider added that Mass Effect was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/articles\/veilguard-and-mass-effect-teams-didnt-get-along-at-bioware-dragon-age-creator-says\/1100-6530858\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">treated as EA&#8217;s favorite child<\/a>, even if they didn&#8217;t sell as well as early Dragon Age games did. The writer added that Mass Effect was seen as a &#8220;slick, modern RPG&#8221; that was easy to sell, whereas Dragon Age was perceived to be an &#8220;old-fashioned&#8221; story-focused RPG, and any success it experienced was deemed to be a &#8220;fluke&#8221; by EA.<\/p>\n<p>  https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Z-j1zzzKWpo  <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But would Gaider ever consider returning to the franchise?
