Following that announcement, Sony&#8217;s own Santa Monica Studio has confirmed that its high-profile upcoming game, God of War Laufey, will be available on a disc, and this is sparking some theories as to when it could release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We can confirm God of War Laufey will be available on disc,&#8221; the developer <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SonySantaMonica\/status\/2075664837095674340\" id=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SonySantaMonica\/status\/2075664837095674340\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Given that Sony&#8217;s plan to kill game discs begins in January 2028, people are taking this statement to mean Laufey will launch before then. That wouldn&#8217;t be surprising, as reporter Jason Schreier has already said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=48JxW_-UN4M\" id=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=48JxW_-UN4M\">Laufey is targeting a release in February or March 2027<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another big-name PS5 game, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/articles\/unlike-gta-6-marvels-wolverine-will-ship-with-a-disc\/\" id=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/articles\/unlike-gta-6-marvels-wolverine-will-ship-with-a-disc\/\">Marvel&#8217;s Wolverine, will be released on a disc as well<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Laufey is the next big God of War game, but instead of telling another Kratos story, this one focuses on his wife, <a href=\"https:\/\/godofwar.fandom.com\/wiki\/Laufey\" id=\"https:\/\/godofwar.fandom.com\/wiki\/Laufey\">Faye<\/a>.
