GTA 6<\/a> preorders began in late June, and, as expected, there was enormous <\/em>demand for the game. Take-Two said GTA 6 had unprecedented preorder numbers<\/a>, but the company is not disclosing a specific figure to avoid misleading investors<\/a>. Sensor Tower, a research and analytics company for gaming, is, however, estimating where they may land.<\/p>\n

Karl Kontus, the SVP and GM of video game insights at Sensor Tower, told GI.biz <\/a>that preorders for GTA 6 could be in the area of 25 million when the game releases, which would amount to “unprecedented preorder performance.” <\/p>\n

Kontus said 25 million preorders would work out to around $2 billion in revenue. That would cover GTA 6’s development cost and the majority of marketing spend, he estimated. To be sure, Rockstar has not disclosed a production or marketing budget for GTA 6, but the game was no doubt very costly to produce.<\/p>\n

The analyst pointed out that GTA 6’s proper marketing campaign has not begun yet–fans can expect it to kick off with the August 27 trailer on Netflix<\/a>. Kontus said the majority of preorders for GTA 6 will come in the last week or so before launch.<\/p>\n
