After the original actor cast for the role, Ryan Hurst, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/articles\/god-of-war-tv-show-forced-to-recast-kratos-after-serious-injury\/\">suffered a bicep tear<\/a> during filming that forced him to leave the role, Amazon and Sony\u00a0moved quickly to find a replacement. <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/tv\/news\/dave-bautista-kratos-god-of-war-tv-series-amazon-1236839394\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Variety<\/a> reported that Bautista will now play the iconic video game character across two planned seasons.<\/p>\n<figure data-wp-interactive=\"core\/image\" class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-ref-id=\"1857744\" data-wp-on--click=\"actions.core.image.showLightbox\" style=\"cursor: zoom-in\" height=\"576\" width=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/DAve-Kratos_3d2e5e.jpg?w=636\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1857744\" \/>We can see it. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While it&#8217;s bad news for Hurst&#8211;who recently revealed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/articles\/ryan-hurst-shows-off-how-shredded-he-got-for-god-of-war-before-misfortune\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">how shredded he got the role<\/a>&#8211;Bautista is well-suited to the part. A former WWE performer, Bautista made a name for himself in the sports entertainment promotion, first appearing as an intimidating enforcer for Reverend D-Von. Working under the ring name of Batista, his career took off after he\u00a0joined Triple H&#8217;s Evolution stable.
