The settlement (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ign.com\/articles\/playstation-is-set-to-pay-out-785-million-to-users-as-part-of-class-action-lawsuit\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.ign.com\/articles\/playstation-is-set-to-pay-out-785-million-to-users-as-part-of-class-action-lawsuit\">via IGN<\/a>) comes after Sony&#8217;s motion to dismiss the lawsuit was denied, and settlement class members across a more-than-four-year period are potentially eligible for a payment. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The lawsuit, <a href=\"https:\/\/psndigitalgamessettlement.com\/media\/f2sbfoy2\/0190-2024-12-13-second-amended-consolidated-complaint.pdf\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/psndigitalgamessettlement.com\/media\/f2sbfoy2\/0190-2024-12-13-second-amended-consolidated-complaint.pdf\">originally filed back in 2024<\/a>, alleged that Sony established a monopoly over PlayStation Store prices by making publishers &#8220;cede control over the final price to Sony&#8221; and that Sony &#8220;eliminated the last vestiges of price competition when it stopped allowing outside retailers to sell digital download codes that could be redeemed on the PlayStation Store.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/psndigitalgamessettlement.com\/faqs\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/psndigitalgamessettlement.com\/faqs\/\">Sony is not agreeing to wrongdoing<\/a> as part of the settlement, and will be avoiding a civil trial if the terms are agreed upon by the court.
