The yang to Shadow\u2019s yin, Sonic is an upbeat hedgehog who uses his extremely fast speed (and occasionally, the power of the Chaos Emeralds) to take down enemies. <\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why Sega balked when it was first approached by Epic games with the idea of giving <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ign.com\/articles\/sonic-the-hedgehog-is-joining-fortnite-and-yes-youll-be-able-to-dash-up-walls-in-the-green-hill-zone?_cache=pass\">Shadow and Sonic their own Fortnite skins<\/a>, according to Sonic Creative Officer Takashi Iizuka. Luckily, they were able to come up with a creative solution: Why not make a new Sonic variant?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/assets-prd.ignimgs.com\/2026\/09\/01\/shop-image-1788237720621.jpeg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cEpic Games came and spoke with us a couple years ago about putting Sonic in Fortnite, but Sonic is a character that will never hold a gun,\u201d he told us. \u201cAnd when thinking about the design of Fortnite, it was really hard to think about Sonic being in the game.
