{"id":89967,"date":"2026-09-22T13:47:36","date_gmt":"2026-09-22T17:47:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vgvote.com\/?p=89967"},"modified":"2026-09-22T14:37:55","modified_gmt":"2026-09-22T18:37:55","slug":"xbox-layoffs-are-not-done-yet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vgvote.com\/?p=89967","title":{"rendered":"Xbox Layoffs Are Not Done Yet"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Microsoft&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/articles\/all-the-major-xbox-changes-microsoft-announced-today-layoffs-halo-changing-hands-and-more\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/articles\/all-the-major-xbox-changes-microsoft-announced-today-layoffs-halo-changing-hands-and-more\/\">&#8220;reset&#8221; of the Xbox business entered its next chapter this week<\/a> with the announcement of 268 more layoffs, along with other drastic organizational and operational changes for the gaming giant. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of the announcement, Xbox boss Matt Booty said this latest wave of restructuring, combined with the changes completed in July, brings the company up to &#8220;roughly three-quarters of the way through&#8221; the planned changes. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In essence, he\u2019s saying that the Xbox \u201creset\u201d effort isn&#8217;t over yet, so further layoffs and other changes are expected.<\/p>\n<figure data-wp-interactive=\"core\/image\" class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-ref-id=\"1892440\" data-wp-on--click=\"actions.core.image.showLightbox\" style=\"cursor: zoom-in\" height=\"571\" width=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/xboxreset-Large-1.jpeg?w=636\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1892440\" \/>Microsoft&#8217;s &#8220;reset&#8221; of the Xbox business is not done yet. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In July, Xbox announced that it was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/articles\/xbox-after-the-layoffs-studios-left-and-what-theyre-making\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/articles\/xbox-after-the-layoffs-studios-left-and-what-theyre-making\/\">laying off 1,600 people immediately<\/a>, with a further 1,600 layoffs to come during Microsoft&#8217;s fiscal year 2027, which ends June 30, 2027. With 1,600 cuts in July and 268 more today, that leaves 1,332 still to come. Even if that math isn&#8217;t totally accurate given how microsoft tallies things, it&#8217;s definitely true that many more staff reductions are coming.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to <a href=\"https:\/\/eightfour.libsyn.com\/8-4-play-9182026-tokyo-game-show-2026\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/eightfour.libsyn.com\/8-4-play-9182026-tokyo-game-show-2026\">comments from reporter Jason Schreier this month<\/a>, layoffs at the Warcraft and Diablo company Blizzard are coming imminently.
