While it&#8217;s\u00a0a leading producer of video games and gaming hardware, the company originally started life as a maker of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hanafuda\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hanafuda playing cards<\/a>\u00a0in 1889, evolving with the times to eventually become a gaming powerhouse. But to put its age into perspective, it&#8217;s worth looking at things that Nintendo predates.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That makes for a long list, but the biggest surprise, as <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/miiyashei\/status\/2102638906940252665\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pointed out online<\/a>, is that Nintendo is literally <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/miiyashei\/status\/2102638906940252665\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">older than sliced bread<\/a>. Technically, this would make sliced bread the best thing since Nintendo, and for double-technicality points, we&#8217;re referring to <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sliced_bread\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">commercial pre-sliced bread<\/a>. According to the history books, pre-sliced bread made its commercial debut 38 years later, on July 7, 1928, when the Missouri-based\u00a0Chillicothe Baking Company\u00a0began using Otto Frederick Rohwedder&#8217;s bread-slicing machine to deliver tasty portions of the household staple to customers.<\/p>\n<p>  https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=dhw8BfVO_EY  <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Historically, Nintendo also beat the public\u00a0opening of the Eiffel Tower (June 1893) and the Wright Brothers&#8217; first flight (1903), and it outlasted the Ottoman Empire.
