{"id":91892,"date":"2026-10-22T15:06:27","date_gmt":"2026-10-22T19:06:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vgvote.com\/?p=91892"},"modified":"2026-10-22T15:36:34","modified_gmt":"2026-10-22T19:36:34","slug":"the-leaked-mass-effect-5-trailer-is-absolutely-heartbreaking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vgvote.com\/?p=91892","title":{"rendered":"The Leaked Mass Effect 5 Trailer Is Absolutely Heartbreaking"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After hearing the disappointing news that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/articles\/ea-shuts-down-dragon-age-mass-effect-studio-bioware\/\">EA has shuttered BioWare<\/a>, putting an end to two of my favorite RPG franchises\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/games\/mass-effect\/\">Mass Effect<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/articles\/an-all-digital-future-isnt-the-only-threat-to-video-game-preservation\/\">Dragon Age<\/a>\u2014I have been, like so many other players, feeling pretty bummed out. But I consoled myself with the fact that, given the environment at BioWare in recent years, the now-canceled Mass Effect 5 probably wouldn&#8217;t be that good anyway.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Like many players, I enjoyed the Mass Effect trilogy, but felt that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/games\/mass-effect-andromeda\/\">Mass Effect: Andromeda<\/a> fell short. Similarly, BioWare&#8217;s other recent titles\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/games\/anthem\/\">Anthem<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/games\/dragon-age-the-veilguard\/\">Dragon Age: The Veilguard<\/a>\u2014struggled with messy development cycles marked by frequent changes in direction, mixed messages from higher-ups at EA, constant staff turnover, and other issues that ultimately led to an underwhelming gaming experience. After playing Veilguard, which felt nothing like the Dragon Age games I had grown to love, my hopes weren&#8217;t too high for Mass Effect 5. The news of its cancellation (and BioWare&#8217;s subsequent shutdown) was a huge bummer, though I&#8217;d rather Mass Effect go out on a relatively high note than see it get the Veilguard treatment.
