{"id":91904,"date":"2026-10-22T15:49:22","date_gmt":"2026-10-22T19:49:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vgvote.com\/?p=91904"},"modified":"2026-10-22T16:40:40","modified_gmt":"2026-10-22T20:40:40","slug":"im-getting-very-worried-about-skate-following-ea-layoffs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vgvote.com\/?p=91904","title":{"rendered":"I\u2019m Getting Very Worried About Skate Following EA Layoffs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Publisher Electronic Arts <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/articles\/ea-kills-bioware-cancels-new-mass-effect-pauses-new-sims-game-and-all-the-other-big-ea-news-that-just-happened\/\">recently slashed 400 roles across its company<\/a>, which resulted in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/articles\/ea-shuts-down-dragon-age-mass-effect-studio-bioware\/\">the shuttering of legendary RPG studio BioWare<\/a>. But also impacted by the layoffs was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/games\/skate\/\" data-type=\"games\" data-id=\"404314\">Skate<\/a> developer Full Circle, and now I&#8217;m growing increasingly worried about the future of a franchise I waited so long to make a comeback. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Part of EA&#8217;s latest round of layoffs on October 21 included cutting an unspecified number of staffers to create a &#8220;very clear roadmap&#8221; that leads to a &#8220;healthier and more sustainable business.&#8221; Then, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.videogameschronicle.com\/news\/many-staff-gone-from-skate-studio-full-circle-as-part-of-ea-layoffs\/\">VGC noted on the same day<\/a>, &#8220;many&#8221; of the developers at Full Circle are gone. This includes artists Brendan Vermeltfoort and Will Granda, seasonal creative director John Epler, and senior designers Adam Martinazzi and David Milne&#8211;all of whom posted the unfortunate news on LinkedIn.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s always a bummer when talented developers lose their jobs at the hands of corporate greed, but this one stings for me personally. As a big <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/?game_franchise=skate\" data-type=\"game_franchise\" data-id=\"2466\">Skate<\/a> girlie, I was <em>so<\/em> stoked for the franchise to make a comeback, and <em>even more<\/em> stoked to get my hands on the game in September 2025. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s had its stumbles, to be sure. Season 2 was light on new content.
