Even though it looked like progress on this adaptation of the cult-classic action game was once again picking up when Shang-Chi star Simu Liu <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/articles\/marvel-star-is-trying-to-get-the-sleeping-dogs-movie-made-and-a-game-sequel\/1100-6529185\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">started teasing new developments<\/a> last year,\u00a0and Timo Tjahjanto (Nobody 2)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/articles\/marvel-star-reveals-sleeping-dogs-movie-milestone\/1100-6535544\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">was later announced as the director<\/a>,\u00a0there&#8217;s been little word since on whether the film will ever get off the ground. What&#8217;s taking so long? According to Tjahjanto, the slow approach is by design.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Trust me when I say Simu\u00a0and I are doing our best to slowly make this come into fruition,&#8221; Tjahjanto\u00a0wrote on <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Timobros\/status\/2115298824180937174\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">X\/Twitter<\/a>. &#8220;Trying to stay as loyal to Wei Shen&#8217;s tale while adding layers to make the narrative more fitting into a feature film is not an easy task.
