The next Game of Thrones game, the RTS War for Westeros, has been delayed. The PC game was originally set for release in 2026, but developer Playside has announced that it’s been delayed to “early 2027.”

“We remain unwavering in our mission to deliver a real-time strategy game set in the world of Westeros that meets the expectations of both RTS players and Game of Thrones fans,” the developer said in a blog post. “This decision gives us the time needed to continue building towards that goal and ensure that the game reaches the high level of quality we are aiming for.”

“Thank you for your patience and continued support. We know the wait has been long, and we do not take your support for granted.”

Announced in 2025, War for Westeros has players controlling one of the franchise’s legendary Houses (Stark, Targaryen, or Lannister), or the Night King, with the aim of conquering the Seven Kingdoms. The game has a single-player campaign and multiplayer.

The developer has said the aim with War for Westeros is to make you feel like you’re playing the TV show.

The Game of Thrones series is owned and controlled by Warner
