Lego Skylines Is A Genius Idea For A Cities: Skylines Spin-Off

Paradox Interactive and Iceflake Studios validated some recent leaks at Gamescom Opening Night Live by announcing Lego Skylines. As its title suggests, it’s a spin-off of the city builder Cities: Skylines where everything is made out of Lego.

A press release for Lego Skylines explains that the game will start on a single plot of land, allowing players to build and customize their house. From there, they can build up to an entire neighborhood and then a giant city. Like Cities: Skylines, you’ll have to manage the distribution of electricity, food, and water, and build parks, museums, sports parks, and more to keep your citizens happy.

After the rocky launch of Cities: Skylines 2, Iceflake Studios took over the development of that game from Colossal Order. Iceflake is also the developer working on Lego Skylines, with director Lasse Liljedahl saying in a press release that “most of us at Iceflake grew up building Lego sets” and that he is excited to make a city builder that’s a “more personal experience.”

Generally, I find the high-level pitch for Lego Skylines to be a great game concept, and I’m definitely excited to see more. Lego tie-in
