Overwatch 2 Gets New Vampire-Inspired Support Hero, Map, and Big Character Reworks

Overwatch 2 is getting a brand-new vampire-inspired support hero, as well as the conclusion of Act III in The Reign of Talon storyline and several big character changes.

Our new addition is Doctrine, a vampire support hero who deals lots of damage and healing with a high mechanical floor. He comes with a brand-new playable escort map, Watch Point Grimsvotn, a volcanic prison where he’s being held captive. What’s more, he’ll be playable for a trial weekend starting today, September 12, both on the Blizzcon convention floor and at home.

In other big news, Overwatch Season 5 begins on October 6. Dokiwatch is also returning, and there are some major character reworks planned: Roadhog is being reworked into a tank that “actually helps his team,” per Blizzard franchise leaders, while Sombra is moving into the support class.

The Overwatch 2026 World Cup Finals are also taking place at Blizzcon this weekend, featuring live performances from Japanese pop group YOASOBI and K-Pop group LE SSERAFIM.
