The Switch 2 is a little over a year old, and unsurprisingly, Nintendo says that its console is just getting started. In a new interview, Nintendo of America president and COO Devon Pritchard teased a multiyear plan for the company, revolving not only around producing video games but also expanding its IP into other forms of entertainment.
“We’re at the beginning of Nintendo Switch 2,” Pritchard said to Variety. “This is just beginning, and we’ve already had some really wonderful experiences, both ours and third-party, come to the table, and I can’t wait to see what the system is going to do and what our talented developers will bring to the table. But again, those partnerships and touchpoints with companies like Sony and Sony Pictures around how we can bring those experiences more broadly to not only our current players and fans but to new ones, I think that’s one of the most exciting things for us over the next few years.”
While video game hardware from Nintendo and its competitors typically had a shelf life of around five years, those days are long gone. The Switch launched in 2017 and was around well into the 2020s before the Switch 2
