IO Interactive recently delayed the Switch 2 edition of 007 First Light yet again, and now the studio’s technical producer, Cristina Vega, has shared more details on why the company had “no choice” but to postpone it a second time.
Speaking to Inven Global, Vega said the deal is “disappointing news for fans,” but it was a decision “also made for their benefit.” The game was originally due to arrive alongside the other versions in May 2026, but IO pushed the game to Summer 2026, and now again to March 2027.
First Light’s Switch 2 edition is now coming in March 2027.
Explaining why yet another delay was necessary, Vega said the studio had been grinding hard for a while and “needed a brief breather.” She also said there were “requests from marketing and various other factors” that resulted in a scenario where IO had “no choice” but to delay the Switch 2 edition to 2027.
“Ultimately, we decided on another delay because we want fans to experience the game in its most polished form on Switch 2, so we ask for your understanding,” she said.
