The creator of a mod project that sought to bring Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5 to Switch is closing up shop, apparently at the request of rights owner Take-Two. This action comes in the same month that Rockstar published a new “Mod Guidelines” notice informing people they need to “respect our games” and are not allowed to modify its games to operate on consoles or devices that are not officially supported by Rockstar. GTA 5 was never released on Switch.
Paralympics Productions announced (via GamesRadar) that it will shut down on October 3. The developer thanked people for their support and apologized for not being able to deliver GTA 5 for Switch.
He also said he’s “thankful for Take-Two’s mercy,” which makes it sound like this situation could have been worse for the modder.
“This is the definitive end,” the developer wrote. “Peace out, girl scouts.”

The developer went on to say that they had received a cease-and-desist notice. He said he plans to comply with this because “I’m not an idiot.” No legal action has taken place as of yet, he added.
