One Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 performer felt confident enough that the RPG would be a success that they bet someone at the game’s publisher 33 baguettes that it would sell 1 million copies in a week. That ended up happening, and now the voice actor, Aliona Baranova, wants her bread.
At Emerald City Comic Con 2026, Baranova said she “knew” that Expedition 33 would be a hit. She raised the stakes, too, with a bread bet.
“I made a bet with someone called Jack who’s on the Kepler [Interactive] publishing team that it would sell a million copies in the first week. I made a bet and the bet was to win 33 baguettes. Jack, where are my baguettes?” she said, as reported by GamesRadar.
Expedition 33 did not need a full week to sell 1 million copies. In fact, it sold 1 million units within 72 hours. It has since climbed to more than 5 million copies sold. Beyond strong sales, Expedition 33 won a lot of awards, including GameSpot’s Game of the Year Award for 2025. In fact, Expedition 33 won more Game of the Year awards than any other game in history, beating Elden Ring’s record.
Not everyone thought Expedition 33
