All eyes are on GTA 6, but Red Dead Redemption 2 continues its remarkable success, selling more copies in the last year than in any 12-month period since its launch year back in 2018.
Rockstar Games’ masterpiece has now sold an incredible 85 million copies to date (up to March 2026), and while that’s just over a third of the eye-watering 230 million copies GTA 5 has sold, it’s enough to make Red Dead Redemption 2 one of the best-selling games of all time. Indeed, it’s now above Wii Sports as the third best-selling game ever released.
Red Dead Redemption 2’s ongoing success only makes Rockstar’s decision not to release a 60fps patch for the modern console version more baffling. Fans have for some time now called on the developer to update the game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, and despite various rumors that such an upgrade is in the works, Red Dead Redemption 2 remains stuck at 30fps on current-gen consoles.
Meanwhile, Red Dead Online has always lagged behind its counterpart, GTA Online, not just in terms of updates but revenue, leading some fans to wonder what might have been had Rockstar
